A real BBB logo will take you to the BBB web site for the company's info and reviews. The Funeral home advises me not to buy the casket online. Funeral homes do not want to lose business from you. However, more funeral homes are welcoming caskets from established outside casket vendors like Divine Caskets in order to serve the best interest of their clients. The Funeral home would not accept caskets from another vendor. According to the Federal Trade Commission, to encourage fair trade and protection for the consumers, the funeral homes would have to accept caskets from an outside vendor. Will the funeral home charge a fee to use the casket? State and Federal laws prohibit any additional fees from being assessed to your casket purchased by your funeral home. If I purchase a casket from an outside source, is it necessary to inform the funeral home? In order to avoid the funeral home to charge you a higher fee knowing that you may provide your own casket, it is not necessary to inform them that you are purchasing the casket from an outside source until they provide you with their General Price List (GPL); which is an itemized list of prices for the various goods and services the funeral provider offers. Under the current Federal Trade Commission rule, all funeral providers must provide their GPL or an itemized list of their goods and services to the consumers. State and Federal laws prohibit funeral providers from adding any additional fees or surcharges on caskets purchased from elsewhere. Can I buy the casket for later use? Yes, but we do not recommend it. We understand there are exceptions based on an individual's circumstances. We offer a 6 months FREE storage and delivery to your destination upon request. Do you sell caskets for the cremation? All our wooden caskets can be used for cremation. However, you should check with the crematory first if you selected a casket with metal parts. 99% of the crematories have no problems removing any metal components after the cremation process. What is a memory tube? It is a small glass tube that is commonly used to place the identification of the deceased person. In the event of a natural disaster, the body of the deceased can be identified without re-opening the casket. Other uses: One can place a tiny note to your deceased loved one. All our 18 gauge metal caskets come with the memory tube with no additional charge. What is the gauge number representing metal caskets? The lower the number, the thicker the steel is. Therefore, usually an 18 gauge casket will cost more than a 20 gauge. What is a sealer or gasket casket? It is a rubber seal on the gasket to keep water and air out. Please note, it has not been proven that a sealer casket can slow the decomposition of a body. However, a sealer casket may be required if transporting the deceased across the state line or transporting by air, sea, or train. All our metal caskets come with the rubber sealer with no additional charge. What kind of packaging do the caskets come in when shipped? Our caskets are delivered with protective packaging. The caskets are surrounded with styrofoam to protect from impact and scratches. Then it is put in a cardboard box for extra protection. Unfortunately, some (very few) funeral homes are not willing to dispose of the packaging of the delivered casket and would require the customer or transportation company to take away and dispose of all packaging materials. If the funeral home has such a requirement, please do not be alarmed nor worry. Customers have 2 choices: 1. Do it yourself - At the time of delivery, take away the packaging and dispose of it yourself. The packaging is a cardboard box (can be folded up) and styrofoam (can be easily cut or broken into pieces). The packaging can then be taken away in your car, and be disposed of. 2. Have the delivery company take the packaging away for a $50 fee. Please let us know at the time of purchase if you require the packaging disposal service (This service may not be available for some areas. Customer will not be charged for this service until we have confirmed the packaging has been disposed of by the delivery company.) Please note: If Divine Caskets has not been informed prior to delivery about the disposal requirement, we cannot instruct the driver to take away packaging. Free White Glove funeral home-friendly delivery is included for Bay Area customers. All packaging will be taking care of free of charge!
